FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION - AUTOMATIC GATES

Q. What is a gate opener?
A. A gate opener is a device used to open a gate automatically instead of manually.

Q.How do I automatically open the gate?
A. Opening methods include remote transmitters, keypads, cards, window tags and loops. All of these opening devices can be programmed separately to limit access to only those authorized to enter the gate. If a device is lost or stolen it can be easily programmed out of the system.

Q. What size of gate can be opened?
A. Generally, a gate that spans a driveway may be 8 to 15 feet in length. However, the right operator can easily open a 40 foot gate if installed correctly.

Q.What if power to the operator goes out? How do I get my vehicle in or out?
A. Optional battery back-up systems are available for most operators Alarmtechs installs. These systems can operate the gate for as little as 30 minutes to several hours depending on the traffic and gate weight. The system can also be programmed to open and stay open incase of a power outage and then close when power returns.

Q. Can the gate be opened manually if needed?
A. The gate can be installed with a quick release device to open the gate manually. Just unlatch the quick release and the gate can be manually pushed open or closed. The quick release can, however, be secured with a lock to prevent just anyone from opening the gate. The Mighty Mule E-Z gate opener has a built-in safety obstruction sensor which causes the gate to stop and reverse its direction if it comes in contact with an object during its opening or closing cycle.
