Q. What is the advantage
of having a CCTV (camera) system?
A.
To have the ability to monitor and record persons entering or leaving
an area.
Q. How long can I record?
A.
Time ranges from real time (2hr max) to 960hrs depending on the
equipment and the length of tape used.
Q. Can the cameras be
located outside?
A. Yes, in most cases 75% of all cameras are located at entrances
and exits of properties.
Q. Can I have color?
A. Yes,
color cameras can be, and in most cases are, requested over black
and white. The downside of color cameras is that they don't see
very well in low light situations. Additional light will be required
to illuminate the area. There are some color cameras that will automatically
switch to black and white for better night viewing.
Q. Can I record more
than one camera at a time?
A.
Yes, multiplexers are widely used to view and record up to 16 cameras
at a time. There is no limit to the number of multiplexers that
can be used. New advances in computers have introduced digital recording
into the world of CCTV. It is not uncommon to have hundreds of cameras
monitored from a single location.
